Trip Overview

Tilicho lake Trekking

Tilicho Lake and Semi Circuit Trekking is an adventure of great scenic combination that takes you around beautiful areas of Manang high valley. So, you can visit the beautiful glacial lake of Tilicho Lake. Moreover, regarded as one of the highest lakes in Nepal and is considered sacred by both Hindu and Buddhist followers.

Trekking to Tilicho Lake leads you into remote and isolated areas of Annapurna and Manang Valley. Thus. You will be in the least ventured country with scenic views enclosed within Gangapurna-Nilgiri’s and Tilicho peaks that feed the lake from its massive glaciers.

The trek to Tilicho combines popular places around Annapurna and the circuit trail, which leads to magnificent walks to Tilicho Lake, located beyond Manang Valley. This is off the beaten tracks of the main Annapurna circuit route.

This fantastic adventure certainly excites you on daily walks facing constant views of the high snow-capped peaks of Annapurna-Manaslu and Lamjung Himal. As the Tilicho Lake trek route leads further high,  it includes the massive range of the Chulus and Dhaulagiri Himalaya ranges.

Nothing can beat the experience of this beautiful and scenic adventure on this trek. Trekking in this country of sweeping views and the panorama of mountains surrounding you at Manang Valley certainly excites you. And its traditional villages enriched with age-old culture and heritage of Tibetan origin with Buddhism religion is something to see.

This trekking starts from low, warm areas of the Lamjung district towards cooler alpine temperatures within high green hills. Then it takes towards the arid ice zone and glaciers around Manang Valley and beyond Tilicho Lake with a high Thorang-la pass. Thus one can experience the varied climates and different cultures to soak in this beautiful adventure.

The journey continues with time around its interesting villages and visiting old monasteries enriched with ancient idols and masterpiece arts. Afterward walk leads beyond the main Manang village to reach our main destination, at beautiful turquoise-colored Tilicho Lake. Indeed, one can experience the tranquil wilderness of high mountains.

After enjoying time over there, head back to join the main trails of Annapurna Circuit. The main purpose is to cross the highest point of the adventure at Thorang-la Pass. Get an eye on the sweeping panorama of both sides of the Manang and Mustang areas mountains.

Now it’s time to end our adventurous walk so downhill to reach the holy Muktinath temple. You will encounter nice villages with lovely lodges to stay, offering grand views of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri’s peaks. And you will get ample time to visit its famous sacred temple premises dedicated to Lord Vishnu of the three Hindu main gods.

From Muktinath, an exciting drive takes you to Jomsom town, located in Kaligandaki River valley. It also takes to the old Trans Himalayan Salt Trade Route of Nepal and Tibet. Jomsom is the home of Thakali, the main tribes of the area as well as famous for delicious apples and products.

After completing our wonderful adventure to Tilicho Lake  Trekking, take a smooth, short, and scenic flight to land at scenic Pokhara town. This magnificent valley is located on the lap of the massive Annapurna Himalayan, which reflects on its calm Phewa Lakes.

Best Seasons: March to May and September to December are the Tilicho Lake trek's best seasons. Trekking is done except for the monsoon wet months from mid-June to mid-September. March to May is the best time for clear views till the afternoon. At that time, wildflowers are in bloom with fantastic views of mountains. The day will be pleasant, but morning and night will be cooler.

October to December is yet another best time for trekking to Tilicho Lake. One can get clear views of peaks with short sunlight days. While morning and nighttime will be cold. And this depends upon various altitudes for an overnight stop.

Essential Information

Tilicho Lake Trekking Difficulty

The Nepal Tilicho Lake Trek is labeled as a moderately difficult to challenging Himalayan trek. This high altitude journey is best suited for trekkers with reasonable fitness, and those who will be able to cope with the demands of remote and thin-air conditions. Although the Tilicho Lake route does not demand any technical or mountaineering skills, it still presents several challenges that are beyond the average trekking holiday. The most challenging aspect of this journey is the altitude itself. You will traverse above 3,000 meters, gradually pushing for the Tilicho Lake, which is at an elevation of 4,919 meters (16,138 feet).

However, that’s not where your journey ends. After joining the route of the Annapurna Circuit Trek, you will also cross the legendary Thorong La Pass, which sits at an altitude of 5,416 meters (17,769 feet). At these major elevations, the reduced oxygen level can increase the risk of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), also known as altitude sickness. Thus, it is crucial to maintain a proper pace and follow a well-managed acclimatization schedule. As for trail conditions, they vary considerably along the way. In the lower parts of the trail, you will walk across traditional villages and forests across well-established paths.

When you approach the Tilicho Base Camp and other higher regions along the Annapurna Circuit route, you will need to traverse across narrow contour, landslide-prone zones, wide pasture, glacial moraines, and even ice stretches, depending on the season. Crossing Thorong La Pass is one of the most demanding parts of this journey. You will have to get started on the trail before dawn, moving across rugged mountain terrain and loose scree. It is also the longest day of the Tilicho Lake Trekking itinerary, which has continuous ascents and descents that last around 7 to 8 hours or more, depending on the pace and strength.

Despite the challenges, the Tilicho Lake Annapurna Circuit Trek remains achievable for most healthy individuals who make adequate preparation. If you are someone who is seeking a route that combines cultural immersion, remote alpine landscapes, the extraordinary beauty of Tilicho Lake, and the accomplishment of crossing one of Nepal’s most iconic mountain passes, the physical efforts that this route demands are often regarded as one of the aspects that make it so rewarding.

Tilicho Lake Trek Best Season

You can take part in the Nepal Tilicho Lake Trek during most parts of the year. However, it is important to note that the experience and challenges vary depending on the season of your choice. To put it bluntly, the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are undoubtedly the Tilicho Lake Trek best seasons. Compared to other off periods, the months of this season offer stable weather elements, clear mountain views, striking landscapes, and most compatible factors for high-altitude traverse and Thorong La Pass crossing.

  • Spring (March to May)

The spring season is a top contender if you are looking forward to doing this trek under pleasant circumstances. Tilicho Lake Annapurna Circuit Trek during the spring season offers a combination of stable weather, moderate temperatures, and vibrant scenery. The daytime temperatures at lower altitudes are approximately 15°C and 25°C, and as you climb higher, it can drop to 5°C to 12°C. As for the night temperatures, at the Tilicho base Camp and Thorong High Camp area, it can fall below -5°C to -10°C, particularly in March.

The lower valleys come alive with blooming rhododendron forests and fresh greenery. As for the higher part of the mountains, they remain draped in snow, especially in early spring. This season is ideal for trekkers who are seeking a classic Himalayan experience with comfortable daytime temperatures, colorful landscapes, and excellent mountain views.

  • Autumn (September to November)

Like spring, autumn is regarded as the finest trekking season in Nepal. This season takes place after the monsoon rain ends and the atmosphere becomes remarkably clear. Autumn season produces some of the best mountain visibility of the year. You can expect the daytime temperatures at low altitudes to be around 15°C and 22°C. At higher elevations, daytime temperatures dip to 6°C to 14°C, and the nighttime temperatures are around -5°C to -10°C. It can get especially cold during late November as the winter season is just at the doorstep.

The strongest allure of the autumn season is its consistency. Trails are usually dry, skies remain clear for an extended period, and it is easier to navigate the exposed sections of Tilicho Lake and Thorong La Pass. This fall season is particularly suitable for trekkers who prioritize reliability, visibility, and crossing of Thorong La Pass under favourable conditions. On top of that, major Nepali festivals like Dashain and Tihar also provide an opportunity to witness the local celebrations and cultural traditions.

  • Winter (December to February)

During the winter season, the Annapurna region transforms into a quieter region with a dramatic landscape. The lower regions remain relatively manageable with daytime temperatures hovering between 10°C and 15°C. However, the weather is considerably harsher above Manang with temperatures dipping upto 5°C to 0°C. At the higher elevations, night temperatures frequently plunge to -15°C to -20°C. So, heavy snowfall can often block the route to Tilicho Lake and even temporarily close Thorong La Pass.

As for reward, for enduring these conditions, you will be able to enjoy solitude, a rare instance in this route that touches the mainstream Annapurna Circuit Trek. Similarly, the fresh snowfall over the mountains and landscape adds an entirely different dimension to the Himalayan scenery. The overall trekking experience feels remote and intimate. Winter trekking on the Tilicho Lake Trekking route is best suited for experienced trekkers who are comfortable trekking in cold conditions and value trqnauility over convenience.

  • Monsoon (June to August)

Compared to other seasons, the monsoon is considered the least favorable season for the Nepal Tilicho Lake Trek. In the lower Annapurna region, this monsoon season brings frequent rainfall, creates muddy trails, increases the risk of landslides, and often obscures the mountain views. Daytime temperatures ranged from 18°C to 26°C at lower regions, and at the higher elevations, they can drop upto 8°C to 15°C. Nights are generally colder at the higher points, with temperatures dipping to 1°C to -5°C.  On the appealing side, the hills surrounding the Marsyangdi Valley become intensely green, waterfalls flow at full force, and the trekking trails are far less crowded.

Interestingly, as Mustang lies within a partial rain shadow of the Himalayas, the conditions improve considerably after crossing into the drier northern landscapes. In overall, monsoon trekking is best suited for seasoned trekkers who prioritize solitude and do not mind adapting to the unpredictable weather conditions. It can also be appealing to the repeat visitors who want to experience a different and unseen side of the Annapurna region.

Packing List

Packing appropriately for Tilicho Lake Annapurna Circuit Trek is essential as the route takes you from the subtropical river valleys to an altitude point above 5,400 meters. You will need to be mindful of the temperatures, weather conditions, and trail environments that change significantly throughout the journey. So, a thoughtful layering system is far more effective than just simply carrying bulky gear. A common mistake among beginner trekkers is overpacking. The goal here is not to prepare for every possible scenario but to carry versatile items that perform well across the changing conditions.

Accommodation and Food During Trek

During the Nepal Tilicho Lake Trek, for the majority of the part, you will stay at the traditional Himalayan teahouses. These mountain teahouses offer a comfortable and authentic way to experience life in Nepal’s communities. In the lower regions such as Dharapani, Chame, Pisang, and Manang, the teahouses are generally well established and offer an extensive range of services. Rooms at the teahouses typically include mattresses, pillows, and blankets. Still, sleeping bags are highly recommended to keep yourself warm and comfortable in higher regions.

Many teahouses in these villages provide attached or shared bathrooms, comfortable dining halls heated by central stoves, charging facilities, Wi-fi services, and a surprisingly diverse menu. Beyond Manang, accommodation becomes noticeably more basic. Rooms remain simple with a similar setup as lower altitudes and minimal furnishings. Shared toilets are common as the altitude rises, and facilities like hot showers, device charging, and internet access may be limited or unavailable at times. As for Tilicho Base Camp and Thorong High Camp, the focus shifts from comfort to practicality.

These remote regions have a harsh climate, and it is difficult to supply products here. So, the available facilities are more modest than those found in the lower valleys. Nevertheless, the welcoming atmosphere of the dining halls remains one of the most memorable aspects of this high-altitude trekking experience.

Food During Tilicho Lake Annapurna Circuit Trek

One of the pleasant surprises of trekking on this route is the wide variety of meals available throughout the Annapurna region. The menus at the teahouses along the trail are designed to provide the energy required for long trekking days. Many dishes at these traditional teahouses are prepared using local ingredients wherever possible. As you ascend to higher regions, the menu options gradually become more limited due to transportation challenges. Still, you will be able to enjoy nutritious and satisfying meals throughout the journey. Here are typical menus that you will find at the teahouses:

Breakfast Options

  • Tibetan bread with honey, butter, or jam

  • Chapati

  • Toast (plain, butter, jam, cheese, or honey)

  • Pancakes (plain, apple, banana, chocolate, or cinnamon)

  • Muesli with milk

  • Cornflakes

**Note: With an increase in altitude, you are generally recommended not to drink alcoholic drinks and prioritize hydration. Drinking plenty of water, warm tea, and electrolyte-rich beverages will help to support acclimatization and your overall trekking experience**

Training and Preparation

Although the Nepal Tilicho Lake Trek does not require technical climbing skills, it does demand a reasonable level of physical fitness and mental resilience. Over the course of this long Himalayan adventure, you will trek for consecutive days, traverse across rugged and uneven routes, gain significant altitude, and eventually push for the high elevation points such as Tilicho Lake (4,919m/ 16,138ft) and Thorong La Pass (5,416m/ 17,769ft). So, if you make necessary preparations before starting the trek, you will be able to enjoy a considerably safer and more enjoyable Himalayan endeavour. Ideally, guides and veteran trekkers recommend training for at least 6 to 8 weeks before the start date.

For this physical preparation, you should focus on building your cardiovascular endurance, leg muscles, flexibility, and overall stamina. Remember, the preparation is not for speed or athletic stats; you just need to be able to walk consecutively for multiple days across varied terrain and increasing altitude. You can start with 3 to 5 sessions per week, then gradually increase the duration and intensity over time. If it's possible, don’t forget to add a weekend hike carrying a light backpack during preparation. This way, you will be able to simulate the trekking conditions, and if it is high enough, it will also be helpful for your body to adjust to varying altitudes.

Exercises such as jogging, brisk walking, cycling, swimming, and stair climbing help to improve aerobic fitness. Strength training is also highly beneficial, as you will need to walk multiple hours across ascending and descending routes carrying your backpack. For strength training, you can do exercises like squats, lunges, step-ups, calf raises, planks, and core workouts to improve balance, stability, and lower-body endurance. Furthermore, flexibility and mobility exercises combined with yoga and stretching can reduce stiffness and aid recovery during the trek.

Mental Preparation

You need to understand that the high-altitude trekking in Nepal is as much of a mental challenge as it is physical. The long walking days, changing weather conditions, limited comfort at higher and remote stretches, and the effects of altitude on the body can test your patience and determination. So, besides making an adequate level of preparation on the physical part, you will also need to approach the Annapurna Circuit with Tilicho Lake Trekking with realistic expectations and a positive, adaptable mindset. Here are mental preparation tips given by our veteran guides and trek experts:

  • You should embrace flexibility; the weather, trail conditions, and flight schedules can change without warning in the Himalayas

  • You should focus on steady progress and avoid worrying about the entire journey at once

  • Accept temporary discomfort, the cold mornings, basic teahouses, and physical fatigue are part of the experience

  • Walk slower than usual at altitudes above 3,000 meters, don’t rush to match up with other trekkers, and give your body time to adapt

  • Maintain a positive attitude throughout the trek, encouraging yourself and supporting fellow trekkers can have a remarkable impact on morale

  • Be prepared for early morning starts (Tilicho Lake and Thorong La Pass), being ready for demanding mornings can make the challenge feel less daunting

  • Finally, stay present and enjoy the process; small moments are the secrets to a memorable journey

Necessary Permits

Tilicho Lake Annapurna Circuit Trek takes place with the protection of the Annapurna Sanctuary in Nepal. Thus, due to the protected nature of the trail, you will need to obtain specific permits for your journey. As the Trekker’s Information Management System (TIMS) Card is no longer essential for this circuit route, you will only have to get one permit. This permit not only ensures the safety of the trekkers but also supports conservation efforts, maintenance of safety infrastructure, and sustainable development of local communities along the route.

Permits Necessary for Annapurna Circuit Trek

  • Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP)

As the entire route passes through the Annapuna Conservation Area, obtaining the ACAP is mandatory for this journey. This permit is issued by the National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC). Generally, the trekking agencies apply for and obtain the permits on your behalf, so you will be able to enjoy a seamless experience. Still, it is best to double-check that the permit and store it safely. Many trekking experts recommend keeping an extra copy as well as a digital copy of the permit.

**Note: To apply for the permit, you will need to provide a valid passport (with at least 6 months duration), passport-sized photograph, permit application details, insurance copy, and emergency contacts**

Although the Tilicho Lake Annapurna Circuit Trek is suitable for beginners, it is not the easiest introduction trek in Nepal. Unlike the low altitude treks that remain below 4,000 meters, this adventure combines long consecutive trekking days with significant elevation gain along the way. As you will traverse to majorly elevated points such as Tilicho Lake (4,919m/ 16,138ft) and Thorong La Pass (5,416m/ 17,769ft), the altitude can be a greater challenge than the trail. From the technical aspects, the Tilicho Lake Trek route does not have any technical stretches. Most of the trail follows the well-established trekking paths connected to villages and teahouses along the way.

However, as a beginner, you should make preparations to be able to walk 5 to 7 hours on average for this trek. During this Himalayan endeavour, you will need to traverse across the uneven terrains, long ascents and descents, exposed ridges, and landslide-prone zones. That said, many first-time trekkers do complete this route every year. Accompanied by well-managed itinerary plan with dedication acclimatization period further increases the success rate of the journey. With sensible pacing and proper preparation, even beginner can comfortably manage the Tilicho Lake Trekking.

Nepal Tilicho Lake Trek can be a good choice for beginners who:

  • Have reasonable fitness and can comfortably walk for several hours

  • Have enough time to follow a well-paced itinerary plan without rushing

  • Understand the importance of acclimatization and have altitude awareness

  • Are willing to train for several weeks before the trek

  • Feel comfortable outside their comfort zone and can embrace the basic mountain living conditions

If you are a complete beginner who is seeking short, lower altitude, and less demanding routes, then you might find these treks more approachable as your first Himalayan adventure:

  • Everest Panorama Trekking

  • Pikey Peak Trek

  • Langtang Valley Trekking

  • Tamang Heritage Trekking

  • Annapurna Base Camp Heli Trek

  • Mardi Himal Trek

  • Mohare Danda Trek

  • Poon Hill Trek Ghorepani

Tilicho Lake Trekking Cost

The Tilicho Lake Trekking is considered a mid-range to moderately priced Himalayan adventure in Nepal. Although the Tilicho Lake Trek price is more than shorter and lower-altitude treks, it remains more affordable than many premium treks and remote routes that heavily rely on domestic flights and higher operational expenses. The overall cost of the package is influenced by the trek’s duration, inclusion of the Annapurna Circuit route, transportation arrangement, guide and porter services, food and accommodation standards, and level of support provided throughout the experience. For a standard 18-day itinerary, the Tilicho Lake Trekking cost can range from USD 1,100 to USD 1,700 per person.

A well-organized Tilicho Lake Trek package at this price range generally covers the necessary permits, licensed trekking guides, teahouse accommodation during the trek, three meals daily on the trail, land transportation, airport transfers, accommodation in Kathmandu and Pokhara, and applicable government taxes and service charges. Yes, the Tilicho Trek route requires a larger budget than some of Nepal’s shorter routes, but the value it delivers is certainly remarkable. Only a few treks in the world combine such a diverse range of experiences in a single itinerary.

From the traditional villages of Marsyangdi Valley, the arid landscape of Manag, and the remote beauty of Tilicho Lake, to crossing Thorong La Pass, this combined itinerary plan showcases the extraordinary diversity of the Annapurna region. After you are done conquering this Himalayan route, you will be left with memories that extend far beyond the mountains themselves.

Travel Visa

Most international travellers coming to Nepal can obtain the On Arrival Visa at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu. This visa is also issued at a few border entry points if you are traveling via land. The process to apply for this visa is generally straightforward and easy. To apply for the visa, you will need to provide your passport with at least six months of validity from the date of entry. The visa form can be easily filled out online or at the airport kiosk after your arrival. You will also need to present a recent passport-sized photograph and the applicable visa fee in acceptable currency.

Tourist visa in Nepal is issued for different durations:

  • 15 Day Tourist Visa— USD 30 per person

  • 30 Day Tourist Visa— USD 50 per person

  • 90 Day Tourist Visa— USD 125 per person

As the standard duration of the Tilicho Lake Trekking itinerary is 18 days, most trekkers choose the 30-day visa. Choosing this option provides sufficient flexibility for unexpected delays caused by weather, transportation disruptions, or personal travel plans. In case if you want to extend your stay to explore other Himalayan routes or cultural and wildlife aspects, you can also apply for a visa extension. For that, you will need to get a 15-day extension period, which costs USD 45 per person.

Most agencies recommend carrying no more than 12-15 kg of luggage, especially if you are hiring porters.

How Difficult is the Tilicho Lake Trek?

The Tilicho Lake Trek is generally rated as a moderately difficult to challenging adventure in the Himalayas. Although it is not technical, walking 5 to 7 hours on average consecutively for multiple days, significant altitude gain, the need to traverse across the rugged mountain terrain, and limited facilities on the remote stretches make the journey feel demanding.

How Many Days Does the Tilicho Lake Trek Take?

Annapurna Circuit with Tilicho Lake Trekking can typically be covered in 15  to 18 days. However, the overall duration depends on the chosen itinerary plan, transportation arrangements, and side excursions around the region. Shorter versions are also possible, but a well-paced itinerary is highly recommended for proper acclimatization and to mitigate the risk of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS).

What is the Altitude of Tilicho Lake?

The Tilicho Lake sits at an impressive altitude of 4,919 meters (16,138 feet) above sea level. Located in the Annapurna region of the central Himalayas, Tilicho Lake is one of the highest alpine lakes in the world that is accessible by trekking.

What is the Best Time to Do the Tilicho Lake Trek?

Ideally, spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are considered the Tilicho Lake Trek best season to enjoy a comfortable experience without weather-related challenges. The spring season is popular for blooming rhododendron forests, longer daylight hours, and moderate temperatures. As for the autumn season, the crystal-clear mountain views, the most stable weather conditions across the year, and major festivals (Dashain and Tihar) are some of its alluring charms.

Can I See Tilicho Lake and Cross Thorong La Pass on the Same Trek?

Yes, most definitely it is possible to explore Tilicho Lake and follow the mainstream Annapurna Circuit Trek route. In fact, many trekkers prefer to combine the Tilicho Lake with the Annapurna Circuit Trek to experience two of the most iconic attractions of the Annapurna region in one adventure.

What Permits Are Required for the Tilicho Lake Trek?

If you are planning to undertake the Tilicho Lake Trek, you will need to obtain the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP). With this permit, you will be able to access the protected trails of the Annapurna Sanctuary. Make sure to keep an extra copy as well as a digital copy to avoid any hassle due to loss or damage.

Is Altitude Sickness Common on the Tilicho Lake Trek?

Altitude sickness is one of the most important considerations on the Tilicho Lake Trek because you will traverse to major altitude points during this trek. After exploring Tilicho Lake (4,919m/ 16,138ft), you will cross the major Himalayan pass, Thorong La Pass (5,416m/ 17,769ft). Although the risk of altitude sickness is higher here compared to other shorter and lower altitude routes, if you follow a gradual itinerary, take an acclimatization day, stay hydrated, and ascend at a sensible pace, it will greatly reduce the risk of altitude sickness.

Is Wi-fi and Mobile Network Coverage Available During the Trek?

Wi-Fi and mobile network coverage are available along most parts of the trek. However, reliability and network strength can decrease as you climb higher into the remote stretches. Especially in regions like Tilicho Base Camp and Thorong High Camp, the connection can be weak or unavailable, so it is best if you prepare yourself for occasional periods without internet access.

Is Tilicho Lake Trek Harder Than Annapurna Base Camp Trek?

Tilicho Lake Annapurna Circuit Trek is generally considered more challenging than the classic Annapurna Base Camp Trek. Although both of the trekking routes involve multiple days of trekking, the Tilicho and Annapurna Circuit route reaches significant altitudes, and you will also have to cross the Thorong La Pass (5,416m/ 17,769ft). The combination of thinner air, colder conditions, long itineraries, and more demanding high-altitude stretches makes the Tilicho Lake more demanding.

Is Drinking Water Easily Available During the Tilicho Lake Trek?

Yes, drinking water is easily available throughout the Tilicho Lake Trek route. Most of the teahouses along the way sell boiled drinking water and provide refill stations. Bottled mineral water is also available in the villages, although the price for the bottle increases with the rise in altitude due to transportation costs.

What Happens if Thorong La Pass is Closed Due to Snow?

Heavy snowfall can occasionally make the Thorong La Pass unsafe or temporarily impassable, particularly during winter and early spring. In such situations, the guides closely monitor local conditions and recommend waiting for the trail to reopen either by adjusting the itinerary or descending to lower elevations. Safety is always a top priority over maintaining a fixed schedule, so it's best if you trek with buffer days.

What Are the Chances of Seeing Tilicho Lake Frozen?

The chances of seeing frozen Tilicho Lake largely depend on the season. During the colder winter months, the lake often freezes partially or entirely. During peak seasons, i.e., spring and autumn, Tilicho Lake remains usually ice-free. If you are hoping to witness the frozen lake, you should consider a winter departure, being aware of the fact that snow conditions do affect the accessibility of the trail.

This was my first time in Nepal, and I wanted to do the Upper Mustang trek and witness the Tiji Festival. I contacted Mr. Dhruba Dharel to ask about the festival dates, and he helped me plan everything accordingly.

I arrived in Nepal at the right time, and we started the trek. It was a fantastic experience—the natural beauty, the Tibetan cultural atmosphere, the peaceful Buddhist monasteries, and the incredible Tiji Festival made the journey truly unforgettable.

A Life-Changing Experience in Upper Mustang and the Tiji Festival

I saw a picture of Upper Mustang and the Tiji Festival online, and it looked so beautiful that I knew I had to go. After doing some research, I found out that the region is restricted to outsiders, but it's possible to visit by paying a $500 permit fee and traveling with a licensed guide. That’s when I came across Eco Holidays Nepal.

I contacted them, and they helped me book the flight and arrange everything. I was a bit worried about the permits and documents, but Eco Holidays Nepal managed everything smoothly. When I arrived in Nepal, Mr. Dhruba came to pick me up at the airport and dropped me at the hotel. From there, we started our trek from Kagbeni.

I was amazed by the landscapes, especially the man-made caves in the hills and houses built inside cliffs. The highlight of the trip was experiencing the Tiji Festival—it was truly beautiful and culturally rich. I feel incredibly lucky to have witnessed this rare event. Very few people get to experience this trek, and I feel it has changed my life.

I want to sincerely thank the entire team at Eco Holidays Nepal for their excellent service and support throughout the journey. There are so many emotions and experiences I can’t even express in words.

I highly recommend Eco Holidays Nepal to anyone planning to visit Upper Mustang or explore Nepal. Thank you again for everything!

A Beautiful Family Trip to Kalinchowk with Eco Holidays Nepal

We are originally from India but currently live in the UK. Our whole family planned a trip to India to celebrate Diwali, and afterward, we decided to visit Nepal. As devotees of Durga and Devi, we especially wanted to visit the Kalinchowk Bhagawati Temple.

After celebrating Diwali in India, we traveled to Nepal and explored the Kathmandu Valley. Then, we headed to Kalinchowk for darshan. We also planned a short trek, and my friend Dhruba took care of all the arrangements for us. Everything was perfectly managed—from transportation to trekking requirements.

Visiting Kalinchowk, trekking through the scenic trails, and playing in the snow made it one of the most memorable moments we've had as a family in a long time.

I want to sincerely thank the entire team at Eco Holidays Nepal and our wonderful guide for their help and support throughout the trip. Thank you, Eco Holidays Nepal!
