From scenic Pokhara, now we get ready for our real adventure toward the remote corners of the Himalayas around the Mustang region. After a scenic flight of 30 mins(approx.) from Pokhara city, we reach Jomsom, a headquarters town of the Mustang district. It is located on Old Trans Himalayan Salt and Caravan route to Tibet, a strong trading post as well.
Now, from Lower Mustang, we start heading towards the interesting villages of Kagbeni and then, towards Chusang and Dhakmar. Then finally, we reach the amazing former kingdom of Lo-Manthang. On this route, you can enjoy taking shots of beautiful landscapes and high snow-capped peaks with traditional farm villages. Also, the place is highly adorned with long series of prayer bells and stone slate walls of great significance.
Within the walled city of Lo-Manthang, you will be engaged with exciting visits and cultural exploration of the old heritage living style of the Lo people. Also, one gets the opportunity to explore the fort palace of the former King of Mustang who ruled for the last Ten decades. Visiting the old and important monasteries is another highlight of the trip.
After a great time around Upper Mustang, we drive back to Jomsom for flights back to scenic Pokhara City. Now, it’s time to enjoy your time around these picturesque spots with stunning views of the sunrise over an array of Himalayan peaks. All months from March to November.
March to May is the best time for Upper Mustang Photography as per clear views. Wildflowers are in bloom with fantastic views of mountains at that time. This season has a pleasant day with cooler mornings and nighttime.
October to November is yet another best time for this Mustang tour due to the clear views of peaks. With a short sunlight day, it can be cold in the morning and nighttime, depending upon the altitude and overnight stop.
As Mustang falls within rain-shadow blocked by high Himalayan Mountains, July to mid-September is also regarded as the best season.
