Upper Mustang Jeep Tour in Nepal

Upper Mustang is in Northern Nepal, with breathtaking landscapes and unique Tibetan culture. Jeep exploration of the Upper Mustang is a captivating and unbeatable travel experience. This thrilling adventure in the remote region passes through secluded villages with mud-brick houses.

In recent years, Upper Mustang has been a popular travel destination with the increased availability of roadways. Previously, the approach to the region could only be made by foot. However, the Upper Mustang visit is now suitable for both treks and roadways. However, beyond the trekking through dusty trails, the Jeep Tour offers an enhanced exploration of the region within a short time frame.

Mustang Valley, isolated from the outer world for several centuries, has people (Thakali, Tibetans, Gurungs) with their own regional language, traditions, and distinctive Tibetan culture. However, the region still lacks modern technologies and lifestyle. Upper Mustang is the driest region, displaying spectacular desert-like scenarios. Due to the arid climate, there is sparse vegetation, and it is the habitat of wildlife like Tibetan wild asses and blue sheep.

The Upper Mustang Jeep Tour lets you explore off-the-beaten routes of Lo-Manthang, a hidden kingdom, comprising two-thirds part of the Northern Mustang. It is a walled city with the Royal Palace and a central place of culture and history. The ancient features like exotic caves, archeological sites, century-old monasteries, etc., prevail here. Unique landscapes (cliff-faced), old-age stupas, narrow lanes, awe-inspiring mountain ranges, colorful rock formations, etc., are the major attractions, unfolding a stirring tale about a mysterious Upper Mustang.

The Upper Mustang Jeep Tour is fascinating, which follows the Kali Gandaki Riverbed against the backdrop of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Hiunchuli and Macchapuchre. Savor the golden opportunity of a relaxing and comfortable Upper Mustang overland drive, immersing in the incredible beauty of landscapes and exploring the Tibetan Bon-Buddhist culture.

Best time for the Upper Mustang Jeep Tour

    upper mustang jeep tour

The Upper Mustang Jeep Tour is accessible every season with unwet travel, even in the monsoon. There is no risk of monsoon rain as the region falls in the rainshadow area of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range. While the Upper Mustang remains dry, the lower regions still receive light summer rains. The warm summer day's temperature ranges from 15-25 degrees Celsius, whereas in winter, temperature is found ranging from 0 to 10 degrees.

The most pleasant time to visit the semi-deserted region is during the autumn and spring seasons. The Upper Mustang weather and temperature become stable and milder. During spring, the temperature ranges from 10 to 20 degrees Celsius, and around 5-15 degrees Celsius in autumn. Likewise, the favorable climatic conditions offer undisturbed and enhanced mountain views.

The period from late March to early November is the best time for the Upper Mustang Tour. This time comes with brighter skies and clear visibility of snow-covered peaks. The striking landscapes are created due to blooming vegetation. However, winter driving is comparatively difficult due to slippery and snow-covered roads. Though the trip doesn't meet extremely high elevations, cold, dust, and strong afternoon winds can dull the journey experience. So, it is advisable to wear face shields, hats, and scarves for the dusty sections of travel.
