In Punakha, you can enjoy its impressive rural farm life and historical fort (dzong), and grand views of snow-capped peaks. And while taking a return journey, the drive takes you to the nice city of Paro. Here you visit the World famous Taktsang Monastery, which is located on a high rocky cliff. This monastery is famously known as Tiger Nest.

Itinerary of Bhutan Cultural Tour - 5 days
Day 01
Fly to Paro 2,280 m and drive to Thimphu 2,320 m – 02 hrs.
Morning depart from Kathmandu for an hour flight or little more to land at Paro international airport of Bhutan. You can enjoy with panorama of mountain range during air borne.
At Paro airport, you will be completing visa formalities. Then our native Bhutanese guide receives you for short scenic drive to Bhutan capital at Thimphu. It’s an interesting journey of less than two hours overlooking lovely views of Bhutan rural farm villages (Buddhist cultured villages).
On reaching Thimphu, you get transfer to respective hotels. It’s a modern city of Bhutan the one and only city in this world without traffic lights. Here all the traffic controlled by traffic police with a whistle.
In the afternoon you can walk around Bhutan capital and witness its great culture and traditional life of Bhutanese.
Day 02
Drive from Thimphu to Punakha 1,350 n (75 Km) -03 hrs journey.
In Thimphu visit Trashichhoe-Dzong, around beautiful medieval fortress and monastery which houses most of the Government’s office and King’s Throne room. It is also the summer residence of Je Khenpo, the Chief Abbot.
Later, you may visit textile and Folk Heritage Museums. It’s a fascinating testimony of Bhutanese material culture and living traditions. Then, after lunch visit Handicrafts Emporium which displays wide assortment of beautifully hand-woven and crafted products.
Thenafter, a short drive takes you to Memorial Chorten, the stupa built in memory of Bhutan’s Third King. It’s a popular head regarded as Father of modern Bhutan. The paintings and statues inside this monument provide a deep insight into Buddhist philosophy.
From Thimphu drive to Punakha across Dochula pass 3,080 m with overnight in Punakha. Then you take a tour to Punakha Dzong, built strategically at the junction of Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. It was built to serve as the religious and administrative centre of the region.
Day 03
Drive from Punakha to Paro 2,280 m (150 Km) , 5 hrs)
After breakfast drive to Wangdiphodrang and visit Dzong and local market. Nevertheless the area of Wangdiphodrang famous for its bamboo products, slate and stone carvings.
After lunch drive to Paro with a short stop at Dochula pass. En route visit Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress of the Kingdom built in 1627. And now it houses the School for Buddhist studies with overnight in Paro.
Day 04
At Paro with sightseeing at places of great interest.
After breakfast our Bhutan guide will pick you from the hotel, for a nice and pleasant walk with an hour or less climb up on slow easy pace to famous Taksang Monastery (Tiger’s nest). Offering amazing views of Paro and distance snow capped peaks. Then after a wonderful time here you descend by the same route. In the afternoon visit 17th century Ta-Dzong, later converted into the National Museum in 1967.
Day 05
Fly from Paro to connecting destination or back to Kathmandu.
Finally all good times comes to an end. After great memories and exciting experience in Bhutan Tour, you’re transferred to Paro airport for flight to respective destinations or back at Kathmandu.

As we all know the mountains are in high altitude region, we need to walk a long way without any means of transpotation, so to hike a long way we need to be fit by work out daily. And the pace of the speed must be normal so that there wont be any issue on breathing. Understanding the environment and trail of the trip may help your trip more comfortabe and adventurous.
Why is Acclimatization necessary?
Acclimatization is essential for the trek to avoid altitude sickness. Although the trek is ideal you must ensure that the acclimatization is appropriately performed. As the mountains are in high altitude, we human living on low altitude cant adopt easily into high level altitude. There are other factor, hydrating regularly along the trail. You should also avoid caffeinated drinks and alcoholic beverages. As you can have DIAMOX tablets which reduce the altitude sickness, you can ask for this tablet before the trek starts or in the middle of the trek, as you feel you might need those tablet for your further trail, with your guide. And this tablet ensure that you will not have a altitude sickness.
What are the accommodation facilities on the trek?
Trekking routes throughout Nepal are supported by a wide network of teahouses and lodges that offer accommodation to trekkers. These establishments typically provide basic but comfortable rooms, usually with twin beds and shared bathroom facilities. In addition to lodging, many teahouses also offer meals and a communal dining area where trekkers can relax and socialize. Depending on the location and altitude, some teahouses may also provide extra amenities such as hot water showers, charging options, and limited internet access. Overall, they contribute to a convenient and culturally immersive trekking experience across the country.
What are the food facilities on the trek?
Food in the trek is the Nepalese diet of “Dal Bhaat.” You can have various other food items like noodles, chapati, thukpa, etc. Hot drinks like tea, garlic soup, coffee, etc., are popular in cold, high-altitude regions. Besides that, you can also carry your snacks to eat while trekking.
What are drinking water facilities on the trek?
You can get water facilities at the tea houses, or you can use water purification tablets on tap water. Bottled water is also valuable in the teahouses.
