Permits
To trek on Everest Base Camp (EBC) in Nepal, you will be needing two main permits for trekking in Everest Base Camp. They are as follows:
- Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit: As we enter into the Sagarmatha Region, where Mount Everest is located, we need to have this permit. And it is categorized on the basis of nationality. They are:
-
- Nepalese (NPR 100)
- SAARC Country (NPR 1500)
- Foreigner (NPR 3000), except SAARC countries.
- Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Permit: As the TIMS permit has been replaced by this permit. Hence, a Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Permit is required. Both foreigners and SAARC countries need to pay NPR 2000 for the first 4 weeks; else, if you stay longer, you need to pay NPR 2500.
You can get the Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit from Kathmandu or Lukla. If you are planning to go by Jiri, the permit is available in Monjo as well.
And for the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Permit, you can't get it from Kathmandu. It is available only in Lukla or Monjo.
